Alessandro Manzoni

The Italian Lakes are considered the most beautiful in Europe. Most famous of all, and thought by Alessandro Manzoni to be the most beautiful, is Lake Como, immortalised in the opening lines of his classic novel, ‘I Promessi Sposi’ (the Betrothed).
