Franz Liszt

Franz Liszt was enchanted by the beauty of Lake Como.  He resided here on a romantic sojourn with French author Marie de Flavigny. Liszt wrote to her: “From the house where I live in Bellagio, I can hear the melancholy murmur of the waves lapping on the beach and on the mountainside I can see the last golden rays of sunlight. If only you could see the magical colours that play across the water before the sun finally goes down.”
