Pliny the Elder

Lake Como was discovered over 2000 years ago by the Romans.  Julius Caesar loved it so much that he sent favored Romans and Greeks to inhabit Novum Comum.  Pliny the Elder and his Nephew Pliny the Younger were born here on the Lake and one of the nicest villas on Lake Como is named after them.
