Locanda dell'Isola Comacina

This is one of the most famous restaurants on Lake Como.  You are looking at none other than Benvenuto Puricelli, the owner performing his post meal ceremony of selecting the Vestal Virgin to taste the coffee laced with brandy to ensure that “if it is good for her, it is good for everybody”.  The setting is amazing resting on an island near the beautiful village of Sala Comacina.  The food is excellent and for those who love vegetables the first course of 10+ different deliciously prepared vegetables is enough to entice visitors to return to the island often.  When George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Matt Damon celebrated the Ocean’s 12 production finish, they did so at the Locanda dell’ Isola Comacina.
