Bologna in April

Just got back from a weekend in Bologna.  It is a 2.5 hour drive from the villa and a handsome city known for its porticoes.  The cuisine is perhaps the best in Italy.  The Bolognese are famous for tortellini in brodo, tagliatelle al ragu and of course the Emilia Romagna cheeses (pecorino and Parmigiana reggiana).  We appreciated the sensation of a real city instead of the made for tourism feel of Florence.  This photo is of the Piazza Santo Stefano.  It is completely cobble stoned and the square has some of the more interesting houses and churches in Bologna.  Try the Trattoria Cesarina in the square.  It was delicious.
